The transport sector is one of the strategic sectors of the European Union economy and has been growing
fast over the past few years. According to analysts' insights, even faster development of the transport
sector is held back by inefficient transport service processes, which in turn lead to inefficient
use of fleets, unprofitable transport routes, losses due to wrongly chosen
drivers, slow order processing, high labor costs, a high likelihood of errors, etc. To
solve these problems, efficient planning and an automated solution that helps handle large orders
are needed. To successfully enter the growing transport market with its technological solutions,
solving the problems of automating and digitizing transport processes, and thereby
significantly increase its competitive advantage, UAB
“Terra IT”, together with its partner “Interneto svetainių dizainas”, is implementing the project “Development of an intelligent
system for efficient transport management”. Project duration: 24 months. Project value:
EUR 797,900.29. Funding allocated to the project: EUR 548,477.12. The project is partly
funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the EU response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aim of the project is to create, based on research and experimental development, an intelligent
system for efficient transport management. Within the intelligent system, 4 separate
products will be created that will enable transport and logistics companies to significantly reduce or eliminate
employees' labor costs and the likelihood of errors, use vehicles more efficiently and increase
productivity by fully loading the fleet, which is especially relevant in the transport sector for
more efficient, higher-quality service.
The products created are planned to be sold both on the national and on the international (European
Union) market. Given that transport is a strategic sector of the European Union economy
and that, according to the European Commission, the deployment of intelligent transport management systems
is very important for optimizing all modes of transport across Europe, it can be
concluded that the products planned will successfully integrate into the European Union transport market
and grow together with the growing transport sector.
